Villa Batavia, a place where every resident feels at home

The brand new seniors' residence consists of four care units, each with a living area with a dining room. In addition, the new building counts 78 treatment rooms with bathrooms. The protected unit cares for residents who require more supervision. Every person is different and every day is different. Residents can choose the activity that suits them best, amongst many. 

"In our nursing home, we attach great importance to creating a warm home. We strive not only to offer excellent quality care, but also to create a warm and family atmosphere. A good relationship with our residents and a pleasant interaction with their families contribute to this. As we respect everyone's privacy, each residential care room is equipped with a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, a sink and a toilet," explains Mr. Cherpion, Director of WZC Orelia Villa Batavia. 
 

Walk-in shower and without set-off

To make things as convenient as possible for residents, we chose a walk-in shower. To install it, the craftsman used JACKOBOARD® Aqua shower trays, which are available in different custom shapes and sizes. They feature a core made of rigid extruded polystyrene foam (XPS), a preformed slope and a special coating on both sides that allows to tile directly over them, without any additional preparation.

"Working with our JACKOBOARD® Aqua panels has many advantages. They are available in rectangular, square or semicircle shapes. This particular project involved larger sizes than the standard product. The extra-large showers also had to allow easy access for wheelchair users. Therefore, all the elements had to be custom made. In addition, the panel has an integrated slope that allows the screed to be pulled straight and glued quickly. This waterproof product allows the tile to be laid directly on it without the need for an additional waterproofing membrane. Of course, it is important to make all junctions waterproof using the sealing kit," says Jan Algoet of JACKON by BEWI. 
 

Quick and easy installation: every installer's dream 

Thanks to its preformed slope, JACKOBOARD® Aqua facilitates the job for all installers. The underlay can be levelled and there is no need for long drying times. The flow system with grid also speeds up the work. This product not only saves time, but also reduces costs. 

"Together with the installer, we visit the construction site to see how to proceed and which product is best. This ensures trouble-free delivery, so that the installer can start working with our products immediately," concludes Jan Algoet.
