Building with lower CO2 emissions and prioritizing energy-efficient renovations is the future of construction. JACKON Insulation by BEWI is excited to introduce JACKOBOARD® LIGNO, a groundbreaking range of tileable construction boards with a core made from lignin and recycled polystyrene foam. Lignin, a biopolymer derived from a renewable resource, is a by-product of the paper industry. This innovative product will debut at Idéobain in Paris (30 September to 3 October), the leading French exhibition for bathrooms and interior design. Even more exciting, sales will begin in early 2025, just a few months away.
JACKOBOARD® LIGNO marks a significant step forward in sustainable building materials, as it integrates recycled general purpose polystyrene (rGPPS) and renewable lignin at its core. The eco-friendly composition not only reduces carbon emissions but also offers a responsible choice for environmentally-conscious construction projects. Importantly, no fossil-based GPPS is used - JACKOBOARD® LIGNO relies solely on recycled and bio-based raw materials in its core.
"With JACKOBOARD® LIGNO, we are not just introducing a new product, but setting a new standard for sustainable building solutions in tiling applications. Our goal was to create a solution that reduces environmental impact without compromising on quality, and we’re proud to have achieved that." says Mark Plate, Sustainability Manager at JACKON Insulation by BEWI.
While JACKOBOARD® LIGNO stands out for its environmentally-friendly properties, with a CO2 reduction of more than 60 per cent in the production of our XPS core material, it also delivers the same exceptional performance that professionals expect. Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) are available to validate these claims.
The product features the same outstanding properties as the trusted JACKOBOARD® line: highly durable, waterproof, and ideal for tiling, making it perfectly suited for modern construction projects.
The introduction of JACKOBOARD® LIGNO supports global efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and minimize the use of fossil-based raw materials, furthering the construction industry's move towards more sustainable practices. By combining recycled GPPS and bio-based lignin, these boards offer a practical solution to environmental challenges without compromising on the reliability and functionality demanded by professionals.
