Inverted roof with vehicle access

In order to make an inverted roof accessible to vehicles or to use it as a parking deck, it is essential to use a sufficiently pressure-resistant thermal insulation that can continue to absorb the expected loads over time. The nature of the inverted roof construction automatically ensures that the waterproofing cannot be damaged by any subsequent work or by the superstructure itself.

In addition, the superstructure fulfils the same functions as the gravel layer in the gravelled inverted roof. That is to say, it prevents the thermal insulation from buoying upwards during heavy rainfall, and protects it against UV radiation, flying sparks and wind suction.

In practice, one of the following three superstructures is currently generally used as the decking surface:

  • Practical example of a inverted roof accessible to vehicles
  • Concrete slabs on paving support pads: 1. Interior plaster 2. Reinforced concrete surface 3. Double layer of waterproofing with primer 4. JACKODUR CFR 500/700 Standard SF 5. Rubber-lined bearing plate as paving support pad 6. Concrete slab
  • Block paving on underlay 1. Interior plaster 2. Reinforced concrete surface 3. Double layer of waterproofing with primer 4. Mastic asphalt 5. JACKODUR CFR 500/700 Standard SF 6. JACKODUR filter layer 7. Underlay 8. Block paving with fill sand
  • In-situ concrete slabs in DIN-1045 waterproof concrete: 1. Interior plaster 2. Reinforced concrete surface 3. Double layer of waterproofing with primer 4. JACKODUR CFR 500/700 Standard SF 5. JACKODUR filter layer 6. In-situ concrete

Benefits

  • high-pressure-resistant thermal insulation: 500 and 700 kPa
  • roof area constructed in cast-in-place concrete, prefabricated concrete slabs or interlocking paving stones
  • single-layer installation in line with building physics, up to 320 mm
  • thermal insulation reliably protects the waterproofing from the weather
